Professional leadershipCommunity-powered service

How the partnership works

Professional supervision in exchange for no-cost volunteer assistance

Approved licensed professionals may be matched with screened adult volunteers who provide no-cost assistance on Service Builders projects. In return, the professional agrees to provide appropriate instruction, direct supervision, safe work practices, and meaningful exposure to the professional’s specific trade or service field.

Volunteer assistance may help a participating business complete approved community projects more efficiently while introducing adults and young adults to skilled careers. Volunteers supplement—not replace—licensed work, paid employees, apprenticeships, or any position that must legally be compensated.

  1. 1
    Apply and verify

We review the business, service area, license, insurance, experience, and proposed sponsor contribution.

  2. 2
    Approve the project

Scope, materials, permits, qualifications, risks, supervision, and client expectations are confirmed before scheduling.

  3. 3
    Match the team

Suitable adult volunteers are assigned according to skills, interests, approved service hours, and safety requirements.

  4. 4
    Train and serve

The licensed professional directs the work, teaches safe methods, verifies hours when authorized, and signs off on completed tasks.

Who may volunteer?

Volunteer teams may include adults and young adults age 18 or older who want to serve, explore a trade, strengthen employability skills, or complete approved community-service obligations.

Community volunteers

Adults contributing their time, practical experience, or interest in learning a skilled field.

Career-exploration volunteers

Young adults age 18 or older receiving supervised exposure to tools, safety practices, teamwork, and skilled careers.

Approved service-hour participants

Adults completing court-ordered probation hours or community-service hours required by an authorized agreement, subject to written verification and program acceptance.

Safety and suitability come first. Court-ordered or mandated placement is never automatic. Every assignment is subject to identity verification, the referring authority’s requirements, project suitability, conduct expectations, and any required screening. Participants are not assigned to unsupervised client contact, in-home companionship, transportation, financial assistance, or licensed work beyond the professional’s direct supervision and applicable law.
